Reality TV show seeks female models

Posted by: RedGirl  :  Category: Hair models

The third season of the hit reality show “Shear Genius” is about to take off and the show’s producers are seeking for female hair models.

These female models will sit on the salon chairs wherein the show’s contestants, who are aspiring hairstylists, will do their magic by doing their best creations.

According to the casting ad, the show is looking for models that have pretty faces, great personalities and most of all, models that believe their hair needs fixing.

The producers stressed that models who are not willing to have their hair colored or cut need not audition. Models can collaborate with the stylist about the hairstyle but in the end, stylists should be given the freedom to create their style.

The casting for the female models has already started. The age limit is between 18 and 28. The model’s height should be at least 5 feet 7 inches. The hair should at least be shoulder length – coined as “blank canvas” among stylists.

Another important factor in the audition is that models should be available for one-day filming between May 15 and June 17 this year and must be in the Los Angeles Area. Applications will be accepted until May 8.

Bridal makeup tips for the big day

Posted by: RedGirl  :  Category: beauty

The big day is approaching and you are now freaking out as to how to prevent the sudden outburst of pimples or any unwanted blemishes on your face when that day comes. Known bridal makeup experts said that it takes a few weeks to prep up your skin but if time’s running out, you can always go for these easy do-it-yourself tips:

• Make it a daily habit to use facial cleanser and moisturizer. There are reasonably-priced products in your nearest retail store.

Healthy Diet: You may cringe knowing that you need to watch what you eat but experts say that you need to only include fresh fruit and vegetables in your meals. These foods aid in keeping your skin radiant. Drink lots of water too.

• Less stress, less wrinkles: Planning for the big day can be stressful but it’s okay to take a break from time to time. Go out with your girlfriends and watch a movie.

Hemorrhoid cream for emergencies: If you find some blemishes in your skin during that special day, just apply this because it minimizes the blemish.

• Refrigerated tea bags: Minimize puffy eyes by placing these tea bags on your eyes the night before the big day. Works wonderfully.

Products of makeup giant to disappear in U.S. stores next year

Posted by: RedGirl  :  Category: Make-up

Retail giant Procter & Gamble announced that its makeup line Max Factor will no longer become available in the United States and will now concentrate on its more popular CoverGirl line. This development was announced late last week.

According to reports, the Max Factor makeup line will no longer be offered in stores starting early next year. The reason behind this move is due to less than stellar sales made during the past few years. The makeup line will still be available in other countries such as the United Kingdom where the product is still gaining popularity.

As of this year, Max Factor still outsells Covergirl but with a low margin. CoverGirl makeup products are gaining more popularity as evidenced by impressive sales in just over seven years.

Bloggers in the U.S. started sharing this surprising news online with one writer saying that “it’s the end of an era in beauty.”

The make up brand was created a century ago by Max Factor, who used to work as a makeup artist in Russia before he moved to the U.S. He became the preferred makeup artist of popular Hollywood icons such as Marilyn Monroe.

Makeup tips in choosing the best foundation

Posted by: RedGirl  :  Category: Foundation

A makeup expert from Armani Beauty generously shared some of the best makeup tips for women in terms of applying foundation. It has been a common mistake for women to ignore the importance of the foundation in creating that perfect look.

Armani Beauty Artistic Director Tim Quinn said in an interview that the most common mistake is for people to purchase a color that is different from their skin tone. The most important advice, he says, is to choose the color that compliments the skin tone.

Off to the tips, Quinn said that don’t choose the foundation based on the sample you’ve applied on the hand. It’s been a common practice for people to apply a bit of the product on the hand and see if it matches the skin. Quinn said that the color of the hands is actually darker than the face.

He reasoned that the face’s skin is lighter than the rest of the body due to people generally putting on sunblock on the face rather than the arms, hands and even legs.  He suggested to try on putting a bit of the sample instead on the jawline area and see if it matches.

Once you have the best foundation, he says always remember to clean first the face before applying the makeup.

Advice for the ladies: Remove all makeup before going to sleep

Posted by: RedGirl  :  Category: skin care

Aside from retaining the cleanliness of your pillowcases, it is important to take off all makeup before going to sleep because it promotes better skin health as well.

According to dermatologists, sleeping with eye makeup and foundation on could cause zits and clog skin pores thus irritating the skin further. Also, the natural process of shedding skin is blocked by the ingredients by the makeup. This makes that skin looks dull when you wake up.

Skin experts added that it is best to spend a few minutes of your time every evening to seriously clean your skin without rushing through the ritual. Spend some time to check on the mirror if all the makeup has been removed.

One important aspect to check is your eye makeup. It’s really tricky to get rid of the entire substance in a quick wash so make sure that check the eyelashes for excess makeup.

Dermatologists said that if you rub your eyes before to sleep and discover that your eye suddenly feels itchy, chances are that they are still elements stuck in there.

In order to get rid of makeup, just use gentle cleansing bar or liquid soap and rinse it with water.

Curly-haired “Survivor” champion battles stage two cancer

Posted by: RedGirl  :  Category: Hair

He may be known as the lovable, curly-haired contestant in the season three of “Survivor,” but Ethan Zohn proved that he’s more than just a pretty face when he won the top plum in the conclusion of the show – which was staged back then in Africa.

However, the 35-year old star is facing the biggest fight of his life which is cancer.

According to reports, the “Survivor: Africa” winner was diagnosed with a rare kind of Hodgkin’s disease.

Zohn personally confirmed this development after he appeared late last week on “The Early Show” in CBS network. His look is noticeably new considering that he has already let go of his curly hair. The cut locks were stored in a clear plastic bag just by his side, an indication that he cut his curly hair just a few moments ago.

The soccer enthusiast revealed that since he’ll be undergoing about three months of chemotherapy treatments, he might just as well cut his har since it will start to fall out on its own once the radiation kicks in from the treatments.

Despite his fate, Zohn said he’s keeping a positive outlook on his life. He currently gets the strength from family, friends and girlfriend Jenna Morasca, also a “Survivor” alumnus.

Dethroned beauty queen denies allegations that led to termination

Posted by: RedGirl  :  Category: Miss Universe

Carrie Prejean, the dethroned Miss California USA, once again made it to the media headlines this week after business mogul Donald Trump announced that she’s official fired. Last month, it was the latter that defended the beauty queen from negative media publicity.

The 22-year old stated through her attorney Charles LiMandri that she was shocked about the termination.
LiMandri said that the allegations thrown against Prejean ranging from unprofessionalism to unauthorized book deals were unfounded.

It can be remembered that Miss California was in the running of the Miss USA title a couple of months ago. However, her answer stating that she’s against same sex marriage allegedly cost her the crown. She finished first runner up. Since then, she’s been subject to intense media publicity and it further escalated when semi-nude pictures of the beauty queen surfaced online.

Former Miss USA Shanna Moakler, who served as co-executive director of the Miss California pageant, resigned last month when Trump decided that Prejean will stay on as the state’s beauty queen. However, when this development came out, she immediately sent her message via social networking site Twitter that her “faith has been restored” in the Miss Universe Organization.

Convicted murderer wins £7 haircut suit against government

Posted by: RedGirl  :  Category: Hair

Prisoner Charles Hanson, convicted for killing his wife, won a suit he filed against the Prison Service for ignoring to provide regular hair cuts. All in all, Hanson will be paid £128 which goes for legal expenses and hair cut costing £7.

Hanson, who got a life sentence for the crime, is currently jailed at Blantyre House in Kent. He’s currently undergoing rehabilitation and has been given privileges such as having a hair cut every six weeks.

The government agreed that prisoners should still be provided with proper health care and hygiene. Hanson argued that most of the inmates end up cutting each other’s hair which does not guarantee hygiene and proper care just like what they’ll get from a proper hair stylist.

The Ministry of Justice is reportedly finding options to prevent massive legal action from prisoners because of Hanson’s seemingly minor yet significant victory.

A spokesman for the ministry said that ministers are looking into the matter and that the recent settlement with the prisoner does not make a precedent to future legal actions by other prisoners. The ministry also stands by its policy not to make settlement with prison law-related cases.
