Just at the American people were starting to forget Republican candidate Sarah Palin’s comment about soccer moms and lipstick, here comes another. Glossy magazine US Weekly reports t
hat the Republican Democratic candidate John McCain has hired an American Idol Stylist to do his makeup for a fee of $5,583. The makeup artist in question is Tiffany White.
White has previously worked as the makeup stylist of the reality show American Idol. McCain’s makeup expense is included is his Federal Election Commission filling. He has come under fire because of this information. After all, he and his campaigned slammed Barack Obama for being too much of a ‘celebrity’.
McCain is not the first presidential hopeful to use makeup to make him appear camera ready. In fact, all of the recent candidates have had their share of time on the makeup chair – even Barack Obama. One notable beauty expense is John Edward’s $400 haircut. A major news channel in the US slammed that move by Edwards.
Perhaps it is indeed best for presidential hopefuls to use the services of professional make up artists. After all, no candidate wants to happen to them what happed to Nixon. Former president Nixon used lazy shave face powder on his face before his debate with JFK. The lighting made him look so ill that a historian said, “He looked for all the world like a man with shaving and perspiration problems”.

Celebrity Hairstyles
A lot of celebrities are deciding to chop off their long locks. Some of them started with wavy tresses like Eva Longoria. She turned in her waves for a straight bob. Other celebrities like Victoria Beckham, Katie Holmes and Rihanna have gone from short to shorter.
Longoria’ Cut – The ‘Desperate Housewives’ star has chopped off her locks for her role in the show. At present, she is sporting a short bob that comes down to her neck. Longoria also sported a similar hairstyle in 2006.
Rihanna – The Barbadian singer who sang ‘Disturbia’ used to have long curly hair. She then chopped it off into a sleek bob with severe bangs. The star is now sporting an ‘inverse bob’ hairstyle. Her current haircut artfully frames her face and dark features.
Mrs. Cruise – Holmes has been seen sporting a short hairstyle since she started hanging out with Mrs. David Beckham. She got a similar haircut paired with heavy bangs. Recently, she cuther hair again and is now sporting a grown out pixie hairstyle.
The Poxie – Beckham has cut her hair once more. This time she opted to go for a short pixie cut that has been nicknamed as the ‘poxie’. The former spice girl’s new cut is now making waves in her home country. A lot of women in London are visiting salons requesting Beckham’s Poxie.

The residents of Green, Ohio are in for a treat because Diane Ranger
– inventor of mineral makeup and founder of Colorescience, will be visiting an Ohio spa this October 28, 2008. Ranger will be accompanied by acclaimed makeup artist Michael McCarthy. McCarthy will be conducting proper makeup application techniques using products from Ranger’s line.

Travelling can be very distressing for the girl who always needs her beauty products. She might end up bringing too much or worse – bringing too little. Here are a few beauty tips that will help make things easier for the girl on the go.
Tinted Moisturizer – Instead of bringing along tubes and cakes of foundation, it is much better to take along a container or two of tinted moisturiser.
Not only will it keep your skin moisturised during cold weather, it will also give you the coverage you need.
Forget the Mascara – Don’t even think of bringing along this beauty product (unless it’s waterproof), especially if you are traveling to a hot and humid place where female nightwear is definitely not a requirement. The weather may not be right for non-waterproof mascara. Plus, you may not have enough time or the right lighting to apply it. You could only end up with raccoon eyes.
Go With Your Wave – When travelling, you may find that you don’t have time to straighten your hair. In case like these, the best thing to do is to go with your natural wave. Don’t attempt to straighten wavy or curly hair on a time crunch. What you can do instead is to apply an anti-frizz serum to keep your locks glossy and smooth.

Has your other half complained about how long it takes you to get ready? Well it
appears he might be right!
According to a survey the average woman takes about 3,276 hours which is equivalent to a whopping 136 days over a lifetime getting ready: put on clothes, your Freya bra make-up and do their hair. Compared to women, men only spend 45 days getting ready, which is about a third of a woman.
Despite spending an awful lot of time on getting ready, nearly two thirds of women said that getting ready was actually a chore, and just one third thinking they loved preening and primping.
Per day, a woman spends averagely 65 mins on getting ready of which 30 mins go to washing and sylting their hair, 20 mins of applying make up and 15 mins applying nail polish.
The survey revealed a difference between north and south women as two-thirds of northerners going out 2 times per weekend whereas only half of those in the south do the same.
As northern women spend an extra 20 minutes getting ready than southern women, that’s a lot of time in front of the mirror.
