wedding day

Your wedding day is fast approaching and you are now in one of the crossroads where you need to decide whether you’ll apply the wedding makeup yourself or let an makeup expert do it for you. Here are some decision guides that could help you:

• If you find it challenging to keep a steady hand while applying makeup then it is best to hire an expert during the special day. It is normal to have jitters prior to the actual wedding and keeping a steady hand may be a challenge.

• Already have the dream look in mind? Then you can freely apply the makeup yourself. Just make sure that you have enough time to do this task yourself while thinking of other factors.

• If you are conscious as to how you will look during the actual ceremony, then it is best to leave the wedding makeup task to an expert or to a trusted friend who could fill in.

Makeup tips for teens, is this necessary?

makeup

Parents have another issue to deal with especially when it comes to their teenage kids. The younger generations are now attempting to catch up with the look of sophistication which include make-up as well as clothing and undergarments. Kids are following makeup tips from magazines and attempting to wear the same shades of colors as specified on the written manual. They are also very interested in underwear that is not appropriate for their age like lingerie vests and underwear.

Is this necessary? Parents may ask. Reality dictates that there are now a lot of avenues for teens to get makeup tips. Even if parents forbid their teenage children from applying makeup, chances are these teens will attempt the task in another friends’ house or in school.

The best approach to this is not to forbid but rather to guide your teenage girls from the issue of makeup use. You could suggest gentle makeup products and not those that are used by grown-ups. Eventually, these teenage kids will grow up and it is best that they are properly guided when it comes to makeup application.

Tattoo cover-up ordered to Dallas police officers - report

Posted by: RedGirl  :  Category: Make-up

The Dallas Police Department is reportedly planning to require its officers to cover up their tattoos during duty. This means wearing appropriate uniform to hide the images or if the tattoos are on the neck or wrist, the officers will have no choice but the cover them up with makeup or skin-colored patch.

Department spokesperson Lt. Andrew Harvey revealed that there are a growing number of officers with tattoos. The aim of the new directive is for officers to display a “more professional image.”

The personnel division of the police department is now drafting the policy and the directive could take effect by summertime.

In the past, supervisors are only asked to determine whether their subordinates need to cover up the tattoos. This time it is going to be a requirement. Harvey said that other cities in the United States have already implemented a similar policy to cover up the tattoos.

This development has so far created mixed reactions from the officers, especially those who have tattoos. Those interviewed stated that they are still undecided if they should use makeup to cover up the tattoos. Plus, wearing long sleeves at the heat of the summer can be very uncomfortable.

Teens and tweens getting more conscious with their looks - report

Posted by: RedGirl  :  Category: Make-up

Makeup artists are united in saying that their businesses are thriving thanks to the growing consciousness of tweens and teens in their looks.

There’s already an increasing incidence of mothers bringing their young daughters to high-end salons so both can glam up for special occasions. Teenagers are now paying more attention in their prom makeup so that they’ll stand up among the rest in this occasion.

Image consults are also becoming popular since they are asked for personal advice on what makeup to use or what look should these teens and tweens have. One of the biggest mistakes, according to one image expert, is for these young women to dress provocatively at the wrong time, stating that this is not the right direction to go to.

One of the major reasons behind this trend is the emergence of television series that cater to the younger audience such as “Hannah Montana.” For the past two years, the market for twelve to twenty year olds has grown phenomenally due to the influence made by TV and internet. Experts have stated that this trend is not about to wane soon.

Products of makeup giant to disappear in U.S. stores next year

Posted by: RedGirl  :  Category: Make-up

Retail giant Procter & Gamble announced that its makeup line Max Factor will no longer become available in the United States and will now concentrate on its more popular CoverGirl line. This development was announced late last week.

According to reports, the Max Factor makeup line will no longer be offered in stores starting early next year. The reason behind this move is due to less than stellar sales made during the past few years. The makeup line will still be available in other countries such as the United Kingdom where the product is still gaining popularity.

As of this year, Max Factor still outsells Covergirl but with a low margin. CoverGirl makeup products are gaining more popularity as evidenced by impressive sales in just over seven years.

Bloggers in the U.S. started sharing this surprising news online with one writer saying that “it’s the end of an era in beauty.”

The make up brand was created a century ago by Max Factor, who used to work as a makeup artist in Russia before he moved to the U.S. He became the preferred makeup artist of popular Hollywood icons such as Marilyn Monroe.

Mineral makeup tips that work wonders

Posted by: RedGirl  :  Category: Make-up

Mineral makeup is a major trend these days despite the fact that it costs more than ordinary makeup. With this in mind, it’s better to take advantage of the benefits of these products by making sure that they are applied right on your face. In that way, you are really getting your money’s worth.

Here are some great tips shared by experts from a leading mineral makeup company:

• Use the brush: In order to effectively take advantage of the fine minerals embedded in the makeup, use the brush. Also, make it a habit to clean the brushes once a week. This will prevent the build up of bacteria on the brushes and you’ll be getting fresh batch of makeup rather than still getting leftover minerals from previous applications.

• Before applying the mineral makeup, make sure that your skin is completely dry. Set a timeframe of ten minutes before applying moisturizers and others.

• To get the smokey hot look, mix the eyeshadow with just a drop of water and apply it along the lashes’ base. It’s simple but very effective.

• Don’t overdo it: Just like any other makeup, it’s best not to apply too much on your face.

Eye and Lip Makeup Tips and Trends for Fall 2008

Posted by: RedGirl  :  Category: Make-up

Accentuating the eye and the lip is one of the biggest makeup trends this fall. Bold lip colors and shimmery eyes have been dominating the red carpet and celebrity events these past few weeks. Some of the biggest celebrity makeup trendsetters include Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Lopez. If you want to get the same look, here are a few tips for you to follow:

BOLD LIPS – This fall season don’t be afraid to put on a bold lip color. Top shades include bright pink, brown, bright and dark red, cranberry and brown. To put on a bold color properly, you should first apply a lip balm. The Lip Balm prevents your lipstick from cracking. After the lip balm, you should line the outer areas of your lips with a liner the same color as your lipstick – then color it in. This trend may look luscious and tempting, but it is not for everybody. Women with thin lips should stay away from this trend.

SHIMMERY EYES – For fall, you can choose a shimmery eye shadow to put all over your eyelid. Pick out an eye shadow that compliments your skin. A shimmery black, brown or plum eye shadow would be great for creating a smoky eye.

Presidential Makeup

Just at the American people were starting to forget Republican candidate Sarah Palin’s comment about soccer moms and lipstick, here comes another. Glossy magazine US Weekly reports tjohn mccain makeuphat the Republican Democratic candidate John McCain has hired an American Idol Stylist to do his makeup for a fee of $5,583. The makeup artist in question is Tiffany White.

White has previously worked as the makeup stylist of the reality show American Idol. McCain’s makeup expense is included is his Federal Election Commission filling. He has come under fire because of this information. After all, he and his campaigned slammed Barack Obama for being too much of a ‘celebrity’.

McCain is not the first presidential hopeful to use makeup to make him appear camera ready. In fact, all of the recent candidates have had their share of time on the makeup chair – even Barack Obama. One notable beauty expense is John Edward’s $400 haircut. A major news channel in the US slammed that move by Edwards.

Perhaps it is indeed best for presidential hopefuls to use the services of professional make up artists. After all, no candidate wants to happen to them what happed to Nixon. Former president Nixon used lazy shave face powder on his face before his debate with JFK. The lighting made him look so ill that a historian said, “He looked for all the world like a man with shaving and perspiration problems”.

Beauty Tips for the Girl on the Go

Travelling can be very distressing for the girl who always needs her beauty products. She might end up bringing too much or worse – bringing too little. Here are a few beauty tips that will help make things easier for the girl on the go.

Tinted Moisturizer – Instead of bringing along tubes and cakes of foundation, it is much better to take along a container or two of tinted moisturiser. Travel rucksackNot only will it keep your skin moisturised during cold weather, it will also give you the coverage you need.

Forget the Mascara – Don’t even think of bringing along this beauty product (unless it’s waterproof), especially if you are traveling to a hot and humid place where female nightwear is definitely not a requirement. The weather may not be right for non-waterproof mascara. Plus, you may not have enough time or the right lighting to apply it. You could only end up with raccoon eyes.

Go With Your Wave – When travelling, you may find that you don’t have time to straighten your hair. In case like these, the best thing to do is to go with your natural wave. Don’t attempt to straighten wavy or curly hair on a time crunch. What you can do instead is to apply an anti-frizz serum to keep your locks glossy and smooth.

Looking good

pamperingSome women struggle to find the right makeup, have the wrong haircut, buy and wear the wrong clothes, perhaps because they weren’t born with good taste or perhaps because they just don’t care. But looking good isn’t purely superficial, people have a natural desire to do things that themselves feel good.

Self pampering has brought success and opportunities to some, from a professional capacity to finding that special someone. Some people want to be rich, successful, well travelled and some people long for beauty, power and freedom.

Michelle Phieffer started off as a cashier, but not everyone can aspire to be the next superstar. And that’s a good thing too, life would be boring if everyone were beautiful with white teeth and gorgeous hair. Perfection would be boring, and even the most beautiful people get old like everyone else.

Beauty is work and a way of life for many. Stay out of the sun, attend the odd makeup class, drink lots of water, eat fruit, yoghurt, veg, exercise for 30 mins a day, moisturise morning and night, find a great stylist, don’t smoke, or drink too much, but above all be happy, and your beauty will shine through!
