Tattoo cover-up ordered to Dallas police officers - report

Posted by: RedGirl  :  Category: Make-up

The Dallas Police Department is reportedly planning to require its officers to cover up their tattoos during duty. This means wearing appropriate uniform to hide the images or if the tattoos are on the neck or wrist, the officers will have no choice but the cover them up with makeup or skin-colored patch.

Department spokesperson Lt. Andrew Harvey revealed that there are a growing number of officers with tattoos. The aim of the new directive is for officers to display a “more professional image.”

The personnel division of the police department is now drafting the policy and the directive could take effect by summertime.

In the past, supervisors are only asked to determine whether their subordinates need to cover up the tattoos. This time it is going to be a requirement. Harvey said that other cities in the United States have already implemented a similar policy to cover up the tattoos.

This development has so far created mixed reactions from the officers, especially those who have tattoos. Those interviewed stated that they are still undecided if they should use makeup to cover up the tattoos. Plus, wearing long sleeves at the heat of the summer can be very uncomfortable.
